Career
James trained and qualified with the international accountancy and tax firm KPMG in their Corporate Legal Advisory Services department. After 3 years he left KPMG to join the international food and beverage company, C&C Group Plc as Assistant Group Company Secretary and was involved in the company's successful IPO on the Dublin and London Stock Exchanges.
Having spent 3 years with the company James then left industry to return to private practice and joined a leading Dublin firm where he spent 2 and a half years.
James joined Flynn O'Driscoll in 2007 and became a Partner in January 2014, he advises clients in the areas of Aviation and Asset Finance; Insolvency and Corporate Restructuring; Commercial Law and Corporate Law. In particular, James has advised a number of international financiers on all aspects of cross-border aircraft financing and leasing including drafting and negotiating leasing and finance documentation as well as providing advices in relation to aircraft registration and the practical application of the Cape Town Convention. On the insolvency side James has advised a number of domestic companies throughout their insolvency process as well as providing legal advice to insolvency practitioners. James has advised both vendors and purchasers in relation to corporate acquisitions and disposals as well advising business owners and managers on day to day company law matters.
Education
James obtained an honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from the National University of Ireland, Galway and later attended and graduated from the Honorable Society of Kings Inns and subsequently the Law Society of Ireland. He also holds a Diploma in Legal Studies, a Diploma in Insolvency and Corporate Restructuring, a Diploma in Aviation Leasing & Finance and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators. James is admitted as a solicitor in Ireland, England and Wales.
