Madeleine began her career as a lawyer in 2005 in the Amsterdam office of CMS where she initially was a corporate finance lawyer and later specialized in international and cross-border employment and contract work. In 2008 she joined The Hague team of Bird & Bird LLP where she has worked until February 2014, when she launched Sagiure together with her former colleagues.

Having previously lived in Switzerland for several years attending international schools, being part of an LLM exchange program in South Africa, and after extensive traveling, Madeleine enjoys adapting her style of collaboration to people with different cultural backgrounds. Having innate diplomatic qualities and being a patient and flexible person, Madeleine is solution-oriented and used to tough negotiations, whether it is working with government agencies, individuals, or corporates.

Madeleine has been a member of the Dutch American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) for many years. Since 2022 Madeleine has taken an active role in the People Platform Committee effective 2022. 

Madeleine also actively participates in IR Global, a multi-disciplinary professional services network that provides legal, accountancy, and financial advice to corporations around the world. Madeleine has extensive experience as a lecturer and provides training on various employment matters for her peers, in-house counsels, and leading legal institutions, including the Academy for the Legal Practice (Academie voor de Rechtspraktijk).

Education

Madeleine holds a masters degree in Civil and Corporate Law (2004) from the Vrije University of Amsterdam, and a Postgraduate Degree in Employment Law from the University of Rotterdam (2010, PALA). She also has a LLM (Master of Laws) in Advanced Company Law from the Stellenbosch University, South Africa (2003).
