Career

With more than 30 years of experience in the field of intellectual property law Dr. Peter Kather has handled hundreds of IP-infringement cases. His clients benefit from his areas of expertise - engineering, telecommunications, chemistry, automotive and biotechnology. One of his specialties are cross-border proceedings. He has conducted numerous proceedings of this type in Germany in a leading role, and coordinated them on an international level. He is listed in various rankings as one of the leading IP-litigators in Germany.

Dr Kather started his professional career in Munich in 1983. 15 years and various cases later he established an office in Düsseldorf for his previous firm, which he led till December 2015.

In 2016 Dr Kather and his partners decided to split from their old firm and establish a high- quality IP litigation boutique law firm: Kather Augenstein Rechtsanwälte with Dr Kather as co-founder and Senior Partner. Dr Kather and his team have been continuously working for all of their existing clients and have taken all previous mandates to the new firm and within the first-year various new mandates have been acquired.

Dr Kather sees his principal task as identifying the best arguments in conjunction with the client. In this context, the close cooperation with external patent lawyers is an important piece of the puzzle in building an understanding of the various technical issues in order to be able to convey them in court.
