Position

İdil Aşkın is an Associate at Şengün & Partners Attorney Partnership, where she advises international and local corporate clients both on routine and complex legal transactions.

She provides legal consultancy on investments, trade activities and critical contracts of client companies meanwhile ensuring compliance of their activities with relevant regulations, including but not limited to competition law and data protection.

In addition to ensuring compliance with Turkish legislation and safeguarding the rights and interests of client companies within this framework, in line with her with particular focus on legal matters related to international trade and investments, she closely follows global legal developments related to her areas of expertise.

At present, a significant portion of her practice is concentrated on corporate law, contracts law, and competition law. She also conducts research and prepares informative documents as part of her work within Şengün & Partners Competition Law Institute.

İdil Aşkın also has a keen interest in working with international corporate groups across various sectors, including capital markets, banking and finance, fintech, as well as media, technology and e-commerce. Moreover, she is interested in public procurement, including international tenders, and she is actively involved in related projects.

Career

Before joining Şengün & Partners Attorney Partnership, İdil Aşkın gained experience in a wide range of legal areas, including but not limited to competition law, mergers and acquisitions, and contract law.

She has been actively involved in all stages of various acquisitions and joint venture projects, from drafting and negotiating contracts to implementing necessary changes in corporate structure, handling trade registry procedures, and submitting concentration notifications to the Turkish Competition Authority. This encompasses foreign-to-foreign transactions as well as transactions involving both local and foreign parties.

Throughout her career, she has drafted and revised a wide range of commercial contracts, analyzed clients’ issues across various areas of law, executed numerous corporate transactions tailored to clients' needs, provided answers to their questions regarding Turkish law and European Union law, and conducted informative activities to ensure their compliance. While the majority of her professional experience has been in corporate consultancy, she has also taken on roles related to litigation during her internship and has actively worked in the area of consumer law.

Within the framework of competition law; she has prepared merger and acquisition filings, handled requests for information sent by the Turkish Competition Authority in the context of sector inquiries and mergers and acquisitions, revised various contracts primarily including distribution agreements from a competition law perspective, worked on ensuring compliance with competition law in public procurement processes, examined the individual exemption conditions of horizontal agreements and participated in the preparation of a self-assessment report. She has also created various compliance documents and training presentations to ensure clients' compliance with competition law, particularly regarding vertical relationships. Additionally, she has had the opportunity to closely monitor an investigation process regarding retail price maintenance.

While she has provided services to corporate clients across various sectors, her work predominantly involved international groups in industries such as shipping, port operations, media and technology, cosmetics, and beverages. She has also kept up with local and global legal developments, writing short articles on these subjects.
