Career
Ali Boshehri is a Senior Associate with Meysan’s litigation division. Ali’s experience is varied and covers criminal law, civil litigation and construction law issues.
He advises on all areas of civil law and advises on a wide spectrum of legal areas such as engineering, trade, entrepreneurship, international shipping and white collar criminal defence. He has advised on corporate and contractual disputes for local and international companies.
Ali also specializes in areas of complex contract, employment, and commercial litigation, and provides counselling and advice to employers in a broad range of industries, including retail, banking, insurance, and family offices.
Key representative matters:
Acted for an American publicly traded medical devices company in its commercial agency dispute against a prominent Kuwaiti medical distributor leading to the successful overturning of a Court of Appeal judgment awarding the Kuwaiti distributor compensation based on a 90-day statute of limitations provision in the Commercial Code. Advised a Kuwaiti distribution company which specializes in the importation and sale of Danish furniture on Kuwait’s taxation framework in light of the Kuwait-Denmark Dual Taxation Agreement. Drafted and prepared notices and termination agreements for a Kuwaiti distribution company vis-à-vis its foreign principal in light of Kuwaiti consumers’ boycott action against the foreign principal. Advised a Kuwaiti holding company in its effort to terminate or renegotiate an unclosed sale-purchase agreement of several kindergartens executed just before the advent of the Covid-19 pandemic based on the Exceptional Circumstances provision of the Kuwaiti Civil Code. Representing an Indian businessman in Kuwaiti litigation against Kuwaiti partners who breached a joint venture agreement. Representing a Kuwaiti individual following the issuance of in-absentia convictions by the Court of First Instance against said individual pursuant to the Electronic Crimes Law. Advised an Emirati state-owned food company on its exposure to disciplinary measures by the Competition Protection Agency in light of its closure of an acquisition without obtaining prior approval in alleged violation of the economic concentration thresholds. The Company was ultimately subject to disciplinary proceedings which were later dismissed on procedural grounds, one of the first actions of this kind under the newly-enacted Competition Protection Law. Representing a Kuwaiti individual in his litigation disputes against his siblings on intestacy matters following the death of his parents.Memberships
