Philipp studied in Vienna, while also playing football professionally (including for SK Rapid Wien, Wiener Sportklub, First Vienna FC 1894) and being capped on several occasions on the youth and U-21s national teams (as well as being runner-up European Champion with the youth national team). He then went on to work for a number of commercial law firms.
