Career

Stephan Marx advises globally active companies on international tax law for over 35 years. In addition to the planning and documentation of transfer pricing systems, his consulting focus is in the area of transfer pricing controversy. This includes defending transfer pricing structures during tax audits, conducting mutual agreement procedures and arbitration procedures, and advising on advance pricing agreements. Further areas of expertise include transfer pricing related advise in connection with business restructurings, complex intra-group service structures as well as support for clients in the context of M&A transactions (transfer pricing due diligence and post deal structuring).

Stephan Marx started his professional career in 1987 at Arthur Andersen in Frankfurt a. M., where he joined the national partnership in 1997 and the international partnership in 2001. After the merger of Arthur Andersen with Ernst & Young (EY) in 2002, he was responsible for leading and building up the service line transfer pricing at the Frankfurt a. M. office. This most recently included a group of experts providing comprehensive transfer pricing advice in the context of M&A transactions.. From 2015 to 2018 he was seconded to the Swiss EY organization to establish transfer pricing teams in Zurich and Geneva.

After leaving EY in 2021, he worked as a tax consultant in his own practice until joining Andersen in 2023.
