Matt has 25 years’ experience in insurance and reinsurance and has been a partner since 2000. After qualifying in 1991 and working in Australia Matt spent 21 years with Kennedys in London where he became the UK head of the Financial Lines/Professional Indemnity group.

His Professional Indemnity practice includes all professions but has a particular emphasis on Financial Lines, accountants and construction (architects, engineers, QS), including construction adjudications.  He undertakes both defence and coverage work depending upon the insurer/reinsurer’s concern in relation to the particular matter – in the UK, the US and Australia. He is particularly experienced in market matters often involving multiple insurers across numerous layers. 

For a number of years Matt has been rated as a Leading Lawyer in Chambers UK and Legal 500 UK, and in the Superlawyers UK. In 2016 he was named as one of the Acritas Stars with the quote “Leading litigator in his field”. In 2017 he was again nominated by in-house counsel and peers to appear in the 14th edition of the Insurance & Reinsurance guide as one of the leading practitioners in this field.
