David is a Partner and represents a broad and impressive range of clients across both the corporate and public sectors in connection with police and regulatory body investigations following deaths and serious injuries at work. He also advises clients in connection with manslaughter prosecutions.David represents numerous clients’ interests at PACE interviews and inquests, including complex Article 2 inquests. David’s instructions flow directly from clients as well as through their insurers. He handles a wide and varied caseload which includes the representation of a prison escort and detention service provider in connection with the death of a prisoner from self-strangulation whilst in custody, an individual transport manager prosecuted for two counts of gross negligence manslaughter following the deaths of colleagues at work, a safety officer at Durham County Cricket Club prosecuted following the partial collapse of a stand during an England international T20 match and a well-known brewery prosecuted following the death of a customer at a public house. He has a keen eye for detail in complex technical cases as well as a sound grasp of the wider tactical approach. With a number of his cases attracting high levels of media interest David also advises his client on the associated public relations aspects and media profile. David is part of the BLM emergency response team. He delivers training and guidance documents for clients on a range of topics including advice on the initial response to a significant incident at work, the sentencing guidelines as well as guidance to clients in preparing for inquests. Michael is a partner and is experienced in handling all types of product liability and recall claims, and property damage claims. His product liability practice includes acting for insurers on behalf retailers, wholesalers suppliers, distributors and manufacturers.Michael is very experienced in dealing with a wide range of product liability disputes, including claims by consumers, but specialises in particular in complex commercial business-to-business product liability claims between companies in a supply chain, many involving household name corporates.  Many of Michael’s claims have an international dimension and he is experienced in cross-jurisdictional disputes, including those involving USA, Italy, China Denmark, Belgium, Greece, Malaysia, Taiwan and the Netherlands.Claims handled include: those involving major fire and flood of commercial and residential premises, commercial aircraft, contamination of food products, child car seats, biomass fuel, wind turbines, industrial machinery, agricultural equipment, constructions materials, and many more. Recent cases include dealing with the Europe-wide recalls of a household name promotional gift product, the world-wide recall of a high end performance car, a DK9m+ fire claim in Denmark, a £3.5m claim currently in the Greek Supreme Court, and a claim in relation to a pipeline for a drinking water project in Egypt which is currently in the Belgian appeal court.His products practice also includes advising on recalls, and pursuing recovery and contribution claims, including claims against manufacturers in other jurisdictions.Michael also advises on policy coverage matters on product liability and recall policies. Michael is experienced at achieving successful outcomes for clients through different routes, including the use of mediation, arbitration, adjudication, and taking cases to trial where appropriate. He is also instructed by many large and well-known corporates. 

Phillip Bratt

   Phillip is ranked as a "Rising Star", "Key Lawyer" and "Recommended" in The Legal 500 2020.  Phillip is an associate solicitor who specialises in catastrophic personal injury claims with a value in excess of £250,000 for defendant insurers, usually involving high profile multi-national commercial clients. The highest value case that Phillip has been involved in was pleaded at £32 million. Phillip has advised on reserves in excess of £150 million.  Phillip works with large composite insures as well as niche and London Market insurers.  Phillip has a particular interest in cases involving complex liability and indemnity issues. He is a specialist in cases with maximum severity brain damage, tetraplegia and amputation injuries. Phillip is experienced in identifying and managing a range of liability and quantum experts throughout the course of multi-year litigation.  Phillip runs cases up to £1 million and is the lead assistant with day to day conduct of his partners’ cases over this value with no upper limit.  Phillip is always looking to expand his knowledge and find methods in which he can solve problems in novel ways.  Phillip has delivered training on Fintech and InsurTech with the intention of raising awareness and how these technologies will change how legal and insurance industries do business. Phillip has also delivered training to the London Market Association.
