Position
Jeremy Abraham is a Partner in the Court of Protection team at Lester Aldridge.
Career
Jeremy acts as a Court of Protection Deputy, specialising in complex financial cases, and is a trustee for several private trusts. The Court of Protection is a specialised court designed to safeguard individuals who lack the mental capacity to make their own decisions. As a member of the Office of the Public Guardian’s deputy panel, Jeremy provides deputyship services in situations of last resort, offering essential assistance to those in need. The panel, recognised as the “Gold Standard” for deputies, covers England and Wales and consists of approximately 70 members nationwide.
In addition to his deputyship responsibilities, Jeremy has extensive family law experience, both as a solicitor and a mediator. He practices in all areas of family law, specialising in pre-nuptial agreements, divorce, cohabitation and financial claims and settlements.
Jeremy is a skilled mediator, practising both sole and co-mediation. His expertise in this area is further demonstrated by his past role as the Chair of the Family Mediators Association and his experience in delivering training courses on behalf of the association.
Jeremy also has a litigation practice specialising in contentious trusts and probate disputes in a family or commercial context, acting for individuals, charities and trust corporations.
Jeremy qualified as a solicitor in 1983.
Notable cases Jeremy represented Mrs Hasan’s estate in Unger and Anor v Ul-Hasan (deceased) and Anor, a wife’s appeal for financial relief against her husband’s estate after he died before the final determination of her application. This was the first family law case to leapfrog to the Supreme Court.
