Mathew is a commercial law specialist with 20 years of experience. Much of his practice has been spent advising a range of commercial clients in manufacturing, retail, design and media & entertainment (including film and television). He also has extensive experience in advising his commercial clients on best practices for protecting, policing and monetising their intellectual property assets and reputation. Mathew also advises clients on contentious matters ranging from contractual disputes, to damage to reputation and to infringement of intellectual property rights. In particular, Mathew specialises in copyright, trademark and passing off disputes; trade secret /breach of confidentiality cases; design and patent disputes and also reputation management and defamation. Mathew has acted for clients in the UK in hearings before the High Court, Court of Appeal, House of Lords and Privy Council. He also has extensive experience in litigating overseas (in particular in the US (New York), Canada and New Zealand). His principal areas of law include:
