Career

Matthew is a qualified as a European Patent Attorney and a UK Chartered Patent Attorney.

Matthew is principally responsible for the prosecution of European, British and PCT patent applications. He is also experienced in representing clients at oral proceedings at the European Patent Office, whether in examination or opposition. His practice covers a wide range of technology, but particular areas of expertise include display technology, ink jet printer technology and wireless communication devices.

Matthew's experience includes working as an intern at a patent law firm in New York and working at the Cavendish Laboratory in Cambridge, where he updated and improved control software for a set of electron-beam lithography machines.

Matthew has lectured on European patent law in the UK and in Japan, and has been published in the Japanese journal “Patent”.

He completed a secondment with one of his major clients in Japan in 2008 and continues to learn Japanese.
