Position
Michael is a Partner and the Head of Lindsays Rural Property Team and is an accredited specialist in Agricultural Law. He specialises in all aspects of rural property law, with particular expertise in the acquisition and disposal of high value estates and farms. He also provides clients with specialised advice on agricultural holdings law, crofting law, mineral and sporting rights and renewable energy.
He has developed a niche practice dealing with titles known as feudal dignities and related heraldic issues. Michael’s clients include many large landed estates, such as the Argyll, Lochiel, Strathconon, Eishken and Murthly Estates, as well as numerous high net worth individuals and corporate bodies with rural and renewables interests throughout Scotland. Michael previously worked at the Registers of Scotland so is well placed to advise clients on the new land registration system in Scotland. He also has a history degree and a PhD in Scottish History which nicely complements his feudal dignities and heraldic practice.
