Since 1998, Markus has concentrated on public international law. Markus combines experience in public international law at the highest level of government with many years of experience in advising and representing states, international organisations and businesses in private practice.

He focuses on international investment law and acts in arbitrations under ICSID, ICC, LCIA and UNCITRAL rules and in proceedings before the Court of Justice of the European Union. He also advises investors on structuring investments worldwide.
