Career

After a period working in Cambridge at one of the United Kingdom's best-known computer manufacturers, Quentin returned to the firm in the mid-1980s to set up one of the first information technology (IT) focused law practices in London. Since then he has worked across the entire field of IT law, including advising on the IT and intellectual property aspects of corporate acquisitions, system development contracts, outsourcing projects, and numerous other transactions involving software licensing, hardware sale, facilities management, telecommunications, maintenance, leasing, and defence contracts.

He has extensive experience of disputes in the IT field. In recent years he has concentrated additionally on information law, including serving as chair of the influential Sedona Conference working group on e-disclosure and data privacy.

In a varied legal career he has arrested a ship, carried out a discovery exercise on a North Sea oil rig, appeared as an advocate in the Russian Supreme Court, and acted as an arbitrator in proceedings (wholly in Russian) at the International Arbitration Court in Moscow.
