A partner in the Real Estate Disputes team, Paul Tonkin's practice focusses on development disputes. He frequently guides clients through the contentious elements of large development schemes and has extensive experience of obtaining vacant possession of development sites, often in the most time-pressured and sensitive of situations. Paul is also one of very few lawyers who fully understand the complex area of rights of light.

Paul also advises clients on professional negligence claims against real estate professionals, joint venture disputes, and high value landlord and tenant disputes. In the landlord and tenant arena he is frequently sought out for his advice on complex rent review disputes and disputes arising out of large portfolio outsourcing agreements. Paul regularly acts on disputes involving some of the most high-profile properties in the United Kingdom and his clients include developers, institutional investors, sovereign wealth funds, banks, and public and private sector occupiers.
