Position

Senior partner and litigation section partner with wide experience in general civil and commercial practice specialising in banking and finance, construction, energy, project finance, privatisation, litigation and arbitration, government contracts, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, foreign investment and judicial reform.

Mr. Sharif Ali Zu'bi has been active in private practice for over three decades, continuing to act as the Senior Partner of Jordan's leading full-service law firm, Ali Sharif Zu'bi Advocates & Legal Consultants. Mr. Zu'bi has supplemented his extensive experience with legal disputes as well as project finance of major projects in the region with his roles as former Minister of Industry & Trade and Minister of Justice in the Government of Jordan. During such ministerial appointments, Mr. Zu'bi introduced pioneering amendments to the legal framework of Jordan, including laws governing foreign investment and judicial reform. Through his roles at the forefront of law and governance in Jordan, Mr. Zu'bi has garnered unique insight on a broad spectrum of matters and the distinct ability to approach legal issues from the lenses of both the private and public sector.

While managing Ali Sharif Zu'bi Advocates & Legal Consultants, Mr. Zu'bi has frequently acted as counsel representing a wide range of local and foreign clients in litigation and forms of alternative dispute resolution. In doing so, Mr. Zu'bi has successfully acted for clients as counsel in ad-hoc and institutional arbitrations on various matters, including predominantly, construction disputes. Over the past decade, Mr. Zu'bi has also been appointed Presiding Arbitrator, party-appointed Co-Arbitrator, and Sole Arbitrator on numerous ad hoc and institutional arbitrations of local, regional, and international scales. Mr. Zu'bi is also a frequent speaker in many international conferences and seminars on foreign investment and judicial reform as well as many other legal issues.
