Career
Lawyer with more than 25 years of professional experience concentrated in business law, particularly in regulatory compliance and corporate integrity and in the design of policies for sustainable development, business innovation, investment protection and the fight against corruption.
He has drawn up investment contracts in projects declared to be of national interest; participated in the negotiation of international trade agreements, tariff preferences; and advised environmental licensing processes for high-risk sectors. In terms of regulatory compliance, he has designed tools for the implementation of governance, risk and corporate compliance (GRC) systems. He has acted as an auditor in the certification of management systems and is an accredited compliance officer for the implementation of anti-money laundering crime prevention systems.
He has advised important companies in the financial sector, in the food and beverage and transportation industries, either in the training and design of products with a risk-based approach (EBR) and in the construction of policies, controls and procedures for the prevention and management of risks of corruption, money laundering, terrorist financing and other crimes.
In the trade union field, he has been Executive President of the Chamber of Industries and Production (2010-2014), President of the National Federation of Chambers of Industries of Ecuador, (2011-2012) (2013-2014), President of the Ecuadorian Business Committee, (2011-2012) and President of the Ecuador-Peru Binational Business Committee (2011-2012).
In the public sector , he has been a member of transparency and anti-corruption organizations and has represented the country as a government expert for the implementation of the United Nations Mechanism against Corruption (UNCAC), and as a delegate of Ecuador to the Committee of Experts for the follow-up of the Implementation Mechanism of the Inter-American Convention against Corruption.
