Career

He possesses vast experience in labor law, both in the public and private sectors. He has acted as adviser to the Ministry of Finance; chief of staff to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security; member of the latter’s negotiating team for the labor accord in the Free Trade Agreement with the United States; delegate to the APEC, the OECD’s Labor Conference, and business sector delegate to the International Labor Conference (ILO). Furthermore, he has been a member of legislative teams in charge of drafting various laws, including the welfare reform, the unemployment insurance act, youth employment subsidy, amongst others. 

In the private sector, he acts as labor adviser to the country’s main production and industrial guilds, and has worked with diverse companies in matters of individual and collective labor law. 

He has been a professor at Universidad de Chile’s Law Faculty for over 10 years, has authored numerous articles for specialized publications and has co-written four books regarding policies for the labor market, as well as the interpretation of Labor Law.
