Career
Marc is a highly experienced, pragmatic and commercially minded employment lawyer and a qualified workplace mediator. He advises on all aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law and human resources issues.
Marc has been practising employment law for over 20 years. He started out as a barrister before transferring to become a solicitor taking on head of department and partner roles at Underwoods Solicitors, Turbervilles Solicitors, IBB Law and Monaco Solicitors. Marc is editor of the Employment Lawyers’ Association’s ELA Briefing and sits on the Association’s management committee.
Marc provides non-contentious support for businesses – drafting employment law contracts and policies, advising on the employment law aspects of corporate transactions and re-orgs as well as staff data protection and IR35 compliance. He also supports businesses and individuals on contentious matters ranging from TUPE and boardroom disputes to enforcement of restrictive covenants and discrimination cases.
Marc has acted as solicitor/advocate for many clients in both employment tribunals and the Employment Appeal Tribunal. He has also acted as solicitor/advocate (with leave) in the Court of Appeal in Consignia Plc v Sealy – the leading unfair dismissal case on time limits. Other notable cases that Marc has been involved in include Hydra Plc and others v Anastasi and others (High Court – restrictive covenants), Ashcroft v Haberdashers Aske’s Boys School (Employment Appeal Tribunal – unfair dismissal) and Venniri v Autodex Ltd (Employment Appeal Tribunal) – unfair dismissal.
