Position

Jorge Luis Ariza is the Partner leading the “infrastructure” practice area, providing his experience in international investment projects in the energy and natural resources sector and in other economic activities that require construction projects of industrial facilities under private management schemes.

Career

Jorge has participated in various phases of the development of mega-projects, such as the construction of the Heavy Crude Oil Pipeline (OCP) in Ecuador, the Ballena-Barrancabermeja Gas Pipeline, the Cusiana Cupiagua Pipeline, the Coveñas Process Center and tank terminal in Colombia, the modernization of the Barrancabermeja and Cartagena Refineries in Colombia and the Campana Refinery in Argentina, the modernization of the Barrancabermeja and Cartagena Refineries in Colombia and the Campana Refinery in Argentina, the construction of facilities for the Salar del Hombre Muerto lithium mining project, the replacement of the Ambatovy nickel and cobalt pipeline in Madagascar, as well as power lines, wind farms and offshore platforms among other projects.

In addition, he has been part of teams in complex claims negotiations and arbitrations under ICC and Buenos Aires Stock Exchange rules, working with international firms such as White & Case and King & Spalding.

He also advises clients in the management of project environment risks such as, regulatory frameworks of the activity, permits and licenses, access to information, social and environmental externalities, easements and other real rights, citizen participation, relationship with communities and indigenous peoples, among others.

Member of the Bar Association of the City of La Plata. He has been a member of SADEC Argentine Society of Construction Law Member of the International Bar Association (IBA)

Education

Jorge is a lawyer graduated from the Universidad Nacional de La Plata, and has obtained the degree of Magister of the Interdisciplinary Master in Energy and the Specialization in Legal-Economic Structure of Energy Regulation both at the Centro de Estudios de la Actividad Regulatoria Energética (CEARE) of the Universidad de Buenos Aires.

He has received a scholarship from the Fondazione di Richerche e Studi Internazionali di Firenze, Italy for the Specialization for International Operators and completed the Integral Course on Foreign Trade (C.I.C.E.) of the Bank Boston Foundation.

As part of his constant updating, he is studying Litigation and International Contracts at Universidad Austral and Project Management at the Inter-American Development Bank.
