Head of the Criminal and Drug Crime Practice in the Criminal Law and Compliance Department at the Kopeć & Zaborowski Law Firm (KKZ).

Urszula Piątkowska-Banach – has nearly 20 years of professional experience, gained while working for many renowned law firms. In 2017-2021, she served as a Substitute Judge of the Disciplinary Court of the District Bar Council in Warsaw.

Her main area of focus is criminal and drug crime as well as economic crime – the so-called white-collar crimes. She also specializes in criminal enforcement and disciplinary proceedings.

Career

She has extensive judicial experience in complex criminal trials, both as a defense counsel and as a representative of victims (individuals and businesses), at every stage of proceedings, both before law enforcement agencies and courts, including the Supreme Court.

She runs training courses in the field of economic criminal law and criminal procedure for businesses, in particular in the areas of criminal liability of management board members and managers, prevention of managers’ corruption, procedural issues important from the point of view of a business’s operations, protection of whistleblowers and internal investigations.

She is a member of the Bar Association in Warsaw and the Criminal Law and Procedure Section of the District Bar Council in Warsaw.

Professional mediator affiliated to the Mediation Centre at the Polish Bar Council.

Education

She graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin.

She also holds an MA in psychology, specializing in the psychology of change – conflict, crisis, and cooperation from SWPS University in Warsaw. She also completed postgraduate studies in management and marketing at Leon Koźmiński University in Warsaw.
