Carl Rohsler is a Partner and Head of the Commercial, IP and Technology (CIPT) team at Memery Crystal. Carl specialises in intellectual property (IP) work and is well-known for his expertise in the field of gambling law. Carl’s practice covers the full range of IP work, including patents, trade marks and designs, copyright and confidential information. Although working on both contentious and non-contentious matters, he is best known for his work as a litigator, having been involved in a number of leading IP cases in the last 25 years. He became a Solicitor Advocate (Civil) in 2001. Carl is also known as one of the UK’s leading experts on gambling law, having acted for many of the leading gambling operations in the UK and across the world. He has advised leading names such as 888.com, Caesars Interactive, Gala Coral, The Health Lottery Limited and Gaming Realms plc, as well as advising governments and regulators on gambling policy. He is the author / editor of several leading academic works in his field including: - The Statute Guide to the Gambling Act 2005 (Sweet & Maxwell 2005) - The Statute Guide to the National Lottery Act 2006 (Sweet & Maxwell 2006) - Licensing Law and Practice (Sweet & Maxwell 2008) - General editor of The Gambling Law Review 2015-2022 Carl also has considerable experience in advertising and marketing regulation, data protection, e-commerce and labelling and packaging law. He is an occasional visiting lecturer at the University of Bordeaux, France.

Christ is a Partner in the Commercial,  IP & Technology (CIPT) team at Memery Crystal. Chris has a life-long interest in technology. After qualifying as a solicitor in 2000, Chris initially advised specialist businesses developing telemetry and related technology for the motor racing sector, and a range of software developers and tech entrepreneurs, both established providers and early-stage dotcom startups. Chris’s experience covers the full range of non-contentious commercial and IP work and has consistently had technology as the focus. Chris led the tech, data and IP function at Rosenblatt providing advice across all sectors, until the acquisition of Memery Crystal in 2021, when he joined their larger Commercial, Intellectual Property and Technology team. Since joining the firm in 2005, Chris has enjoyed adapting to new and emerging technologies and to work with his clients to find practical solutions. Chris is determined to keep sight of his client’s priorities and to ensure their commercial objectives are met within the preferred legal framework. Chris’ experience has followed the evolution of major digital sectors and the growth of data protection and digital trade regulation – in particular the development of customer insight, data enrichment and digital advertising. Currently, much of Chris’s focus in the crypto and DeFi space, including advising clients considering establishing a new exchange, chain, marketplace, or platform or considering investing in a digital or cryptographic asset or project. Chris is a key/founding member of the firm’s New Tech Working Group, a member of the Society for Computers and the Law (SCL). Chris focuses on the following areas: Advising developers and customers on platform, SaaS, development, and licensing arrangements, plus their supporting SLAs, customer dependencies and policies. Negotiation of traditional technology and system procurement projects, including tv broadcasting infrastructure. Joint ventures and collaborative projects. Advising project founders on the optimal corporate and contractual structure, asset ownership and core contracts for Web 3.0, crypto and blockchain-based businesses. DeFi projects, NFTs, smart contracts, Metaverse and in-world contracts; marketplace and platform terms and conditions, and token-linked terms and conditions. Data protection compliance (including UK GDPR, DPA 2018, PECR), appointing data processors, advising on anonymisation requirements and reidentification risk, and international transfers of personal data.

Edward has wide experience of corporate transactions and specialises in corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions, both public and private. Edward has advised a number of corporates on public and private acquisitions and disposals and ECM transactions and also advised a number of investment banks on public bids and ECM matters. He worked on a number of complex cross border transactions, including public and private mergers and acquisitions and ECM deals. His experience includes advising J.P. Morgan Limited and Numis Securities Limited on the recommended offer for May Gurney Integrated Services PLC; BXR Group on its development capital investment funding to become majority stakeholder in a Malawian mango growing business; Ernst & Young as financial adviser to CQS Cayman on its mandatory offer for CQS Rig Finance Limited; and UBS on PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited’s £1.22bn bid for Cove Energy plc.

Elizabeth Weeks is a Legal Director in the Dispute Resolution team at Rosenblatt. Elizabeth joined Rosenblatt’s Dispute Resolution team in May 2017. Elizabeth has acted on a wide range of complex and high-value contentious commercial issues and has extensive experience of multi-jurisdictional dispute resolution, including litigation, arbitration, adjudication and mediation. She has acted in relation to disputes encompassing contractual disputes, commercial fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, jurisdiction, company, shareholder, partnership, and family business disputes and professional negligence claims. Elizabeth’s work has often involved urgent Court applications and application of a foreign law element. Elizabeth has also acted for a variety of private and public sector clients on a full range of contentious and non-contentious construction matters, from advice on procurement methods and the negotiation and implementation of construction contracts through to dispute avoidance and resolution. On the contentious front, Elizabeth has experience of high-value multi-party litigation in the Technology and Construction Court (the “TCC”) and of adjudication.

His focus is on project structuring, management and delivery, including shareholders’ agreements, joint ventures, partnering, collaborations, R&D contracts, outsourcing and service agreements, supply contracts, and terms of business. He advises on sales and marketing, agency, distribution, licensing, franchising, sponsorship, merchandising, e-commerce, and related regulatory areas including data protection, anti-bribery, and consumer protection. He is also highly experienced in managing and exploiting intellectual property rights, particularly in the technology, brands and media sectors. Jonathan has a strong international client base, with a particular focus on North America and Europe.

Lesley Gregory is Chair and a Partner in our Corporate team at Memery Crystal As one of the few female chair at a UK law firm, Lesley Gregory has led Memery Crystal through several strong financial years, worked to expand the firm’s international offering and encourage an internal culture focused on diversity and core values – all while maintaining her top-rated corporate practice. She specialises in capital markets work including flotations and secondary capital raisings. She is a non-exec director of Aquis Exchange PLC (the growth market stock exchange). She acts for companies, nominated advisers and brokers and has acted for both UK and international companies from the US, Canada, South Africa and Australia including Petra Diamonds Limited and Gaming Realms Plc. Lesley also advises growth companies on alternative forms of raising finance, including retail corporate bonds for companies and clubs from Hotel Chocolat to the Jockey Club. In addition, she advises on acquisitions and disposals of public and private companies as well as on cross-border transactions. Lesley enjoys the challenges of working with entrepreneurs and growth companies and has previously acted as a non-executive director or special advisor to both public and private companies. Liam Bell is a Partner in the Real Estate Litigation team at Memery Crystal Liam acts for landlords, tenants and freehold owners on all aspects of: rent and service charge disputes lease forfeiture claims for breach of covenant boundary disputes enforcing terms in property contracts He advises frequently on statutory lease renewals and terminations, providing strategic advice for managing tenant exits and for protecting clients’ interests generally. Liam also acts extensively on insolvency matters, dealing with both individual bankruptcy and company insolvency as an extension to his core expertise in property litigation.

Matthew Lindsay is a Partner and Head of the Banking & Finance team at Memery Crystal. Matthew has been a Partner at Memery Crystal since April 2015. His practice revolves around real estate finance (senior and mezzanine) and international private capital with particular emphasis on creating and preserving wealth for his clients through strategic investment, acquisition and astute asset management. Matthew is a member of R3 (the association of business recovery professionals) and the Insolvency Lawyers Association and regularly speaks to finance professionals on all elements of real estate finance in Europe and the US. Matthew’s day job is to ensure that his clients can operate as effectively and swiftly as their desires command whilst ensuring that they are fully protected against the uncertainties and changing nature of the market place.  He works on projects for clients including, Allied Commercial Exporters, Z Hotels Group, Beckman Group, Hillview Capital, SIAHAF, Auriens, Westbourne Group and ENRA.

Neil Sampson is an International Partner at Rosenblatt and Memery Crystal. Neil'sbroad portfolio of expertise as a business lawyer includes domestic and international dispute resolution, corporate and commercial transactions (both in the UK and internationally), property transactions and a range of private client matters. He has worked on the listing of several Chinese companies on the London Stock Exchange, while his dispute resolution experience covers a broad range of domestic and commercial litigation, including international arbitration. His diverse experience includes a period as a corporate bankruptcy inspector in Montreal, acting on the acquisition and disposal of major chemical plants in Europe, Asia, and South America, and representing a sovereign government in international arbitration. Neil promotes the firm’s work in many jurisdictions throughout the world with clients from many countries including China, India, Mongolia and across Africa. He works closely with UKTI and other government and non-government trade promotion bodies and has often represented the interests of the City of London and UK business at international meetings. Since 1985 Neil has been active in Asia and is a consultant to our associate firms in Hong Kong, China and Ghana. He is a Freeman of the City of London and Liveryman. For 18 years Neil has been a director of the China-Britain Business Council. He is a member of the International Bar Association and a mediator with the Belt and Road Mediation Centre based in Beijing. He is a partner of Memery Crystal's sister brand Rosenblatt (and has been since 1994) and his role as international partner means that he represents both Memery Crystal and Rosenblatt.

Nick Davis is a Senior Partner of Memery Crystal and a Partner in our Corporate department. Nick specialises in corporate finance with expertise in flotations, equity capital markets and mergers & acquisitions. Nick advises on public company listings on both the Main Market and AIM and has extensive experience acting for other issuers, NOMAD/brokers and sponsors. Nick heads the firms’ natural resources team and has worked on many of the largest AIM fundraisings in the sector. He is the only lawyer who sits on the AIM advisory group and regularly speaks at seminars and conferences around the world in relation to the London capital markets. Nick also recently led the Memery Crystal team on the NEX listing of medicinal cannabis investment vehicle, Ananda Developments which was the second ever public listing of a cannabis vehicle. He has a personal interest in medicinal cannabis as a Trustee of the charity ‘Olivia’s Vision’, the UK’s leading Uveitis charity raising awareness of the condition from which his daughter, Olivia, suffers. Uveitis like many autoimmune diseases is being targeted for medicinal cannabis research. He has been widely quoted in both TV and print media in respect of the emergence of cannabis as an asset class.

Richard Evans is a Partner and Head of the Real Estate Litigation team at Memery Crystal. Richard advises leading UK property companies and retailers such as the Freshwater Group, St. Modwen Properties and the Steinhoff Group as well as tenants, developers and investors of all kinds. His practice focuses on complex property disputes resulting out of the acquisition, development and management of commercial real estate.  His experience includes acting for clients in disputes involving breach of covenant, rights of light, easements, construction, judicial review, 1954 Act lease renewals, rent reviews, noise nuisance, applications for consent to assign, trespass and real estate disputes with an insolvency aspect. Richard has appeared in the leading Court of Appeal case on Section 62 of the Law of Property Act 1925 (Wood vs. Waddington) and has a broad range of High Court and Court of Appeal experience dealing with contractual and development disputes including claims for specific performance and injunctive relief. A significant part of Richard’s current practice involves advising both tenants and landlords in contested high value dilapidations disputes.
