Career

Jean-Marie was called to the English bar in 2005 (as a major scholar and prize winner of the Middle Temple) and subsequently qualified in Jersey in 2010.  He previously worked for one of the major offshore law firms (latterly in London), before returning to Jersey and assisting in the establishment of new firm, Hanson Renouf.  He was made a partner of that firm in 2013 and then of BCR Law upon their subsequent merger.

Jean-Marie was a co-founding partner of Seymour Law LLP in 2019 and brings over 20 years' of legal experience.

He practises as a commercial litigator, dealing primarily with trust disputes, collective investments and company litigation, applications for injunctive relief, and contractual disputes. He also deals with professional negligence matters, cross-border insolvency and probate cases, and regulatory/financial services matters. Jean Marie also specialises in Employment Law and acts for both institutional and individual employers and employees in all aspects of this field, including complex multi-jurisdiction employment disputes and Jersey law contracts for employees seconded to other countries from Jersey.
