Career

Mateo has more than 15 years of experience on corporate finance, project finance, derivatives and capital markets. Mateo is trained in Colombian law firms and internationally in a NY law firm. He has advised local and international banks in financings and debt capital markets transactions in Colombia, Mexico, Uruguay, Jamaica and Chile. Mateo has also advised financings of 4G toll-roads program in Colombia and power generation projects in both Colombia and Mexico. He is well-known in the martket for his expertise on ISDA Documentation and structured finance deals. Mateo is also experienced on debt capital markets, including registered and 144A / Reg S deals, indenture and covenants negotiation and forbearance agreements in restructuring deals.

Mateo has been a professor of law at the Universidad de Los Andes since 2015 where he teaches Project Finance at the Law School, ISDA Documentation in the Postgraduate Program on Financial Law and International Financial Transactions in the Postgraduate Program on International Business Law.
