Defence Lawyer at the Court of Appeal of Monaco

Career

Régis BERGONZI became a Lawyer in 2005 and a Defence Lawyer at the Monaco Court of Appeal on January 5th, 2013.

In 2011/2012, he served as Secretary-Treasurer of the Monaco Bar Association.

He has been in charge of several cases brought before the the European Court of Human Rights against different states as the former President of the Human Rights Commission at the International Association of Lawyers (www.uianet.org).

He represents the Principality of Monaco at the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman and Degrading Treatment or Punishment, within the Council of Europe (www.cpt.coe.int/fr/).

His professional experiences led him to the General Secretariat of the Banking Commission in Paris, to the New York law firm TANNENBAUM-HELPERN SYRACUSE & HIRSCHSTRITT and to the Electrolux company located in Brazil.

He has a general practice of law and he is more specifically specialist in criminal law (money laundering, fraud, breach of trust, theft, forgery and use of forgery ...), criminal procedure (reform of the rights of police custody ...), contracts law (holder of a postgraduate diploma (DEA) in contract law issued by the Law University of PARIS XI), in family law and banking law.

Me Bergonzi has been elected as the President of the Monaco Bar Association in 2019 and again, reelected in 2020 for his second mandate.

Finally, he is the Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Thailand in the Principality of Monaco.
