Senior Partner

Aqeel began his career at Crawford Bayley & Co. , the well-known law firm. He later moved to counsel practice with the Chambers of Senior Advocate Mr. Arshad Hidayatullah for over a decade, where he assimilated the finer nuances of the law, arguments, court practice and detail oriented approach to research. He subsequently joined as Partner at Economic Laws Practice, where he spent ten years as a key member of the tax team.

At TLC Legal, he does a mixed bag of advisory and litigation matters in indirect taxes. He regularly appears before the Tribunal and various High Courts. Many of the cases argued by him have been reported in law journals. Aqeel believes that his generation was fortunate to have great mentors, who invested their time and had the inclination in training juniors. As someone with a warm persona and a mentoring disposition, he endeavours to carry on that legacy. He believes that it is crucial to have an open-door policy with his team members and he himself is always approachable. He encourages his team members to read the law from the books as opposed to relying purely on internet based research.
