Experience

Anna is representing and represented clients in very significant criminal matters in Germany. Her top three representations include the following matters:

1) White-Collar Defence: Defence of a Former Pharmacist Against the Allegation of Fraud

Co-defence counsel of a former pharmacist in criminal proceedings concerning the allegation of fraud in the billing of “orphan” drugs to health insurance companies in connection with an innovative patient support program and a fundamental legal question that is likely to be clarified by the German Federal Court of Justice (“Bundesgerichtshof”) if not even the German Constitutional Court (“Bundesverfassungsgericht”).

2) White-Collar Defence: Defence of a Former Board Member of a Major German Company Against the Allegation of Severe Tax Evasion

 Co-defence counsel of a former board member of a major German company relating to the allegation of severe tax evasion.

3) White-Collar Defence: Witness Counsel of a Former Inhouse Counsel

Witness counsel of a former inhouse counsel in the criminal proceedings and in the context of internal investigations of a German listed media group.

Career

Anna studied law at the University of Passau with a special focus on criminal procedural law, white collar crime, corporate law and capital markets law.

After her graduation, Anna worked as a research associate in two international law firms in Frankfurt and Munich, where she gained professional experience in the areas of corporate law and capital markets law (IDCM), in particular in advising sellers and buyers on large loan portfolio transactions from various asset classes, as well as in advising globally operating companies in all kind of complex corporate transactions and public takeovers and in all matters of corporate governance, board compensation and board liability.

Apart from that, while working on her dissertation, Anna taught criminal law at the University of Regensburg. In 2023 she completed her doctorate in German criminal procedural law (‘summa cum laude’).

Since 2023, Anna is an Associate at stetter Rechtsanwälte where she already began her career as a legal trainee in 2021. She provides legal counsel and representation to individuals and companies in matters related to white-collar criminal law. Her practice focuses on criminal and corporate as well as medical law.

According to her corporate law background Anna is particularly interested in advising board members and companies regarding the (potential) allegations of fraud, embezzlement and tax evasion. In addition, Anna has a special interest in the healthcare sector. In this respect, Anna has defended physicians and pharmacists against the accusation of accounting fraud not only in criminal proceedings but also in settlement negotiations with health insurance companies in close cooperation with medical law experts. Finally, Anna´s focus is on advising and representing witnesses in criminal proceedings and internal investigations.

Studied in University of Passau

In 2023 Anna completed her doctorate in criminal procedural law (‘summa cum laude’). In her doctoral thesis, entitled “in dubio pro reo and probability judgments”, Anna is dealing with the application of the rule “in dubio pro reo” in criminal proceedings and the requirements the court must meet in order not to violate the laws of logic when evaluating evidence.
