Career

Lauren is a Director, specialist family lawyer, mediator and collaborative lawyer who deals with all areas of family law, with a particular specialism in surrogacy and modern families.

Lauren is a committed member of Resolution, the nationwide organisation of family lawyers committed to a constructive and conciliatory approach to family law issues. She is passionate in her belief that many families can achieve the best outcome by adopting a dispute resolution process and avoiding litigation which can often exacerbate conflict within the family. She is also experienced in representing clients within court proceedings when cases cannot be resolved by other means.

Career History

Lauren joined Edward Cooke Family Law as a Director in January 2021 and heads up the Brighton office. Lauren has worked in family law since 2006 and qualified as a solicitor in 2011, and is also a Resolution trained collaborative lawyer and mediator. Lauren is also specially trained in our Consensus approach, helping couples approach separation in a collaborative way, using one lawyer.

Lauren has been recognised as a Recommended Lawyer in The Legal 500 in 2020, 2021 and 2022. Edward Cooke Family Law was recognised as a Leading Firm in 2022.

Areas of Work

Lauren is able to assist with a wide range of family matters including financial issues arising on divorce and separation, child arrangements, separation, divorce and nuptial agreements.  She is a qualified collaborative lawyer and mediator.

With particular expertise in cases involving children, including child arrangements, parental responsibility, removal from the jurisdiction and special guardianship, Lauren also has a special interest in alternative family structures such as surrogacy, donor conception and co-parenting and has assisted same sex, opposite sex and single parents.

Lauren appreciates that clients are often experiencing a time of personal stress and transition, she aims to guide them with sensitivity through their particular situation by offering tailored and sensible legal advice and representation.

Memberships

Lauren is a member of the Law Society Family Panel and is a Resolution Accredited specialist in Children Law (Private) and Complex Financial Remedies 2 (Medium to High Net worth). Lauren is also a qualified collaborative lawyer and mediator.

Lauren is a member of the East Sussex Resolution Committee and of two local collaborative pods, Brightpod and Worthing POD.

Outside of work Lauren enjoys watching live music and reading.
