Daniel Morar, Senior Partner - Albu Morar

Former Constitutional Court judge, Chief Prosecutor of the National Anticorruption Department and General Prosecutor of Romania, Daniel Morar is one of the best-known and esteemed legal practitioners in Romania. He is now a Senior Partner at Albu Morar.

Daniel Morar is a graduate of the Faculty of Law of the "Babeș-Bolyai" University of Cluj-Napoca (1990). Between 1990 and 2005 he worked as a prosecutor, first at the Prosecutor's Office in Târgu Mureș and then in Cluj-Napoca. During this time, he was temporarily seconded on two occasions to the Prosecutor's Office of the High Court of Cassation and Justice.

In 2005 he was appointed prosecutor general of the then National Anti-corruption Prosecutor's Office, which later changed into the National Anti-corruption Department, a position he exercised until the end of his term, in 2012. He was afterwards delegated as first deputy to the prosecutor general of the Prosecutor's Office of the High Court of Cassation and Justice, exercising the powers of the Prosecutor General of Romania between 2012 and 2013.

Between 2013 and 2022 he served as a Judge of the Constitutional Court of Romania, appointed by the President of Romania for a constitutional term of 9 years. He has been an attorney-at-law in private practice since 2022.

He was a member of the Board of Governors of the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) in Laxenburg, Austria (2012-2015), an international organization operating under the aegis of the United Nations.

During his term as a judge of the Constitutional Court of Romania, during 2016-2022, he was a liaison agent for the Constitutional Court of Romania at the Commission for Democracy through Law (the Venice Commission).
