Career

Pablo Ordoñez is a partner of PPO Abogados and he leads the firm`s Tax Law team.

As leader of the Tax Law team, he habitually provides counseling to local and foreign companies in the design and implementation of fiscal structures to enable capturing investments in Bolivia, and the materialization of disinvestments. Likewise, he actively participates in the negotiation of complex corporate contracts for the sale of participation interests and assets, as well as commercial agreements, in relation to their fiscal effects and fiscal optimization alternatives. He also provides legal counseling to companies in different sectors with respect to the taxation effects applicable to their business. In a parallel manner, he has a broad experience sponsoring tax-related litigation processes filed before administrative and judicial entities.

Prior to his incorporation to PPO, Pablo was a partner at Ferrere law firm. Aldo, he worked as a fiscal adviser at the local (2014-2016) as well as the international level (2008-2014) including companies like Repsol in Spain. During that period, his work focused on integral fiscal advice, in coordination with external advisers from Nordic and African countries for the definition and implementation of strategies. Prior to that, Pablo was a fiscal adviser at Telefónica (at its headquarters in Madrid, Spain), Bolivia`s National Customs Office and Bolivia`s National Tax Service.

In the academic area, he is a Tax professor in various postgraduate programs, and is the author of a several articles about tax-related subjects for academic publications, as well as for Bolivian and foreign media.

Education

Pablo obtained his Law Degree from Universidad Católica Boliviana, and a Master`s Degree in Taxation, from Centro de Estudios Garrigues, in Madrid, Spain. He also specialized in International Fiscal Planning at Centro de Estudios Financieros in Madrid as well as a specialization in Compared Fiscal Policy from Harvard University, in Boston, Massachusetts, in the United States.
