Position

Amy Surkis is a general commercial litigator with a scientific background and over 10 years' experience.

Amy has particular expertise in intellectual property litigation and has extensive experience leading complex patent litigation matters in the Federal Court of Australia, both at first instance and appeal.

Amy has experience in a wide range of industries, including the pharmaceutical, biologics and mining sectors. Her practice has also included providing comprehensive advice to clients on protecting and enforcing their intellectual property rights (including copyright, trade marks and patents).

She has recently been recognised as a Rising Star in Intellectual Property by Doyles (2022) and Managing IP (2019).

Prior to coming to the bar, Amy was a Senior Associate in MinterEllison’s disputes resolution team.

Amy graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Laws (first class honours) and Bachelor of Science (Molecular Biology and Biochemistry).

Amy read with Peter Creighton-Selvay and her senior mentor is Tom Cordiner KC.
