Position

Warwick Rothnie practises in intellectual property law, trade practices, telecommunications and commercial law.

Career

Warwick's practice includes infringement and validity actions; seeking and defending interlocutory injunction applications; and patent and trade mark hearings, oppositions and appeals. Warwick also regularly advises in relation to validity and infringement of intellectual property rights and represents parties at mediations.

Warwick is a panelist for the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) in domain name disputes under the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) and the auDA Domain Name Dispute Policy (auDRP).

Warwick is listed in both Doyle's Guide to Leading Victorian Intellectual Property Barristers (2021) and Doyle’s Guide to Leading Australian Intellectual Property Barristers (2021) as a Preeminent Intellectual Property Junior Counsel. Warwick is also listed in the Legal 500 Asia-Pacific (2022) as a Leading Junior Counsel. His review reads: “Strong, academic focus – particularly in copyright and patent matters."

Before coming to the Bar, Warwick was a partner in the intellectual property and trade practices group of Mallesons Stephen Jacques.
