Career
Phoebe is an experienced trial and appellate advocate. She conducts a practice in patent and intellectual property law (copyright, trade marks, designs, confidential information), competition and consumer protection law, and general commercial law. She also acts in administrative law, data protection, breach of confidence and privacy law cases.
Phoebe has appeared in many high profile and complex cases, chiefly in the Federal Court of Australia (at trial and on appeal in all registries throughout Australia). Phoebe also appears in all state courts and tribunals as required, and has extensive experience in the Patents Office, the Trade Marks Office, the Copyright Tribunal, the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, and in arbitrations and mediations. Phoebe frequently advises, and acts for, clients across a range of industries including mining, pharmaceutical (originator and generic), information technology, telecommunications, consumer goods, finance, government and regulators.
Prior to the Bar, Phoebe worked as a solicitor in Mallesons Stephen Jaques (now King & Wood, Mallesons) and was an Associate to Hon. Justice Annabelle Bennett AC SC of the Federal Court of Australia. She is admitted in the United States (New York).
Phoebe is a member of the Intellectual Property Committee of the Law Council of Australia, the Wellbeing Committee of the NSW Bar Association and is a volunteer lawyer at Arts Law Australia. She is the co-author of the chapter “Infringement of Trade Marks” in the authoritative intellectual property commentary “Patents, Trade Marks and Related Rights” (Lahore, LexisNexis) (continuing).
