Career

Gofran graduated from Queen Mary University of London with an LLB degree in Law. Gofran went on to achieve an LLM masters degree in International Arbitration from the University of Law in London.

Before joining Eltumi & Co., Gofran was a member of the legal department of the Libyan Investment Authority, working in the litigation and contracts units. Gofran gained experience in reviewing and drafting contracts, conducting document reviews for litigation and arbitration, and conducting legal research. Prior to that, Gofran was a junior legal specialist at the Libya Africa Investment Portfolio, where she assisted in document review for an arbitration brought before the ICC. During her time at the Libya Africa Investment Portfolio, Gofran was seconded to the African Legal Support Facility (an international organisation hosted by the African Development (AfDB) Group), where she assisted in legal research on vulture funds in the African continent.

Since joining Eltumi & Co., Gofran has assisted on drafting legal agreements for a major oil company’s implementation of its corporate social responsibility commitments in Libya, as well as assisting on advising a Libyan state entity on a corporate restructuring project. In addition to assisting in a due diligence exercise in relation to assignment of debts under Libyan law, Gofran has also assisted in advising on various corporate, labour and immigration law matters.
