Career

Joël advises companies as well as their executives and shareholders (families and/or investors such as private equity funds). Joël has recognized expertise in setting up incentive plans for executives and employees of both listed and unlisted companies, such as share award plans, stock options, warrants, profit-sharing schemes, etc. He frequently participates in LBO/MBO transactions and has negotiated agreements with the tax authorities (rulings) concerning sophisticated management incentive plans (sweet equity, ratchet shares, carried interest, etc.), of which he understands the financial aspects.

Joël has developed innovative compensation solutions for several banks, offered by the later to their clients, and has obtained rulings regarding these solutions.

Joël also has extensive experience in international mobility (cross-border intra-group transfers, remuneration structures involving the allocation of tax authority among several countries, etc.).

Additionally, Joël and his team advise individuals on the taxation of their wealth income and the transfer of their assets, particularly in situations involving multiple jurisdictions.

Before joining Advisius, he worked for 12 years in the tax department of major international audit and consulting firms, and then was a partner for over 15 years at a prominent Brussels tax consultancy firm.

Joël holds a law degree (UCL) and an additional diploma in tax law (KUL).

Personal

He is the author of numerous publications, mainly concerning stock option plans. Joël is part of the training team of the Febelfin Academy and is a regular speaker at various training courses organized by specialist bodies.
