Career
Mr. Monir AbdulAziz Shalaby is an Egyptian lawyer who holds a Bachelor of Laws from Cairo University, obtained in May 1969. With over 54 years of practical experience in the legal field.
He has a wealth of professional experience, having served as a Deputy Judge in the Military Judiciary from 1969 to June 1976, and as the Head of the Legal Affairs Department at the Armed Forces Hospital in Maadi until 1980. He has also worked as a registered Cassation, Constitutional and Administrative Lawyer, as well as Head of Legal Affairs at the Egyptian General Company for Tourism and Hotels "E.G.O.T.H" with the rank of Deputy Minister until 2005. Furthermore, he has served as a board member of the Egyptian Hotels Company and a board member of the Tourist Development Company, in addition to previously working as a legal counsel to the Egypt Aswan Tourism Company.
Mr. Monir also joined the two largest law firms in the Arab Republic of Egypt (Mr. Ragai Attia Law Firm - Arab Republic of Egypt - from 1985 to 1992, where he directly handled criminal cases of all types before all levels of litigation. In addition to, Mr. Mohamed Kamal Abdelaziz Law Firm - Arab Republic of Egypt - from 2005 to 2006 and from 2009 to 2010, where he directly handled all civil cases, arbitration, and compensation cases).
Furthermore, he collaborated with his colleagues at the law firm to revise the book "Procedural Law in the Light of Judiciary and Jurisprudence" by the late great jurist Mohamed Kamal Abdelaziz after his passing.
In addition to his experiences in Egypt, he also has vast experiences in Qatar where Mr. Monir has served as a legal counsel to Al-Mehwaer for Construction and Development Company (from 2006 to 2007), as well as serving as a Senior Legal Counsel in Qatar since 2007.
Furthermore, Mr. Monir has completed numerous courses in arbitration and successfully passed the qualifying course for the Associate Membership of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators UK, held at the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration in October 2000. He has served as an arbitrator and lawyer in numerous arbitrations in Qatar and Egypt, including the arbitration of one of the largest Italian companies in Qatar. Mr. Monir has acted as an arbitrator both domestically and internationally in Qatar and Egypt and has also participated in arbitrations with Dr. Esmat Abdel-Meguid, former Secretary-General of the Arab League, and with former Ministers of Justice, Ahmed Mekki and Mamdouh Marei.
Mr. Mounir was also chosen by the “Nuzul Holding” company as an arbitrator on its behalf in an arbitration between it and Sheikh / Abdullah bin Nasser Al Thani, and the arbitration number was 17/T/2001 - Qatar International Center for Conciliation and Arbitration (the arbitration did not take place), and he was chosen by the Sudanese embassy in Qatar to give a lecture on sports arbitration at Hamad Stadium.
Mr. Monir is proficient in pleading, drafting pleadings and memorandums, and has secured numerous favorable arbitration and litigation awards throughout his career. He has also contributed to amending the Qatari Law regarding the Prohibition of Workers Camps within Family Residential Areas and the Qatari Code of Law Practice.
Mr. Monir takes great pride in his dedication to the field of law and strives to maintain his awareness of the dynamic judiciary.
