Career

Michito Kitamura has extensive experience in the field of tax disputes/litigation, wealth management and ESG.  Specifically, he has represented both Japanese and foreign clients in tax disputes and litigation at all court levels in Japan and foreign countries.  He also provides legal and tax consulting services relating to a variety of transactions such as M&A, business restructuring, ESG-driven transactions by utilizing his unique background.  

  He has been a partner at PwC Legal Japan since April 2016. Prior to joining PwC Legal Japan, he worked for one of the largest law firms in Japan for 15 years (of which 5 years were as a partner). He has been active in the Japan Institute of Certified Public Accountants and has served as an expert on the committee on international taxation. He has also been a lecturer on tax policy at Hitotsubashi University’s School of International and Public Policy from 2011 to the present.
