Career

Prior to founding Meziou & Elleuch law firm, Ahmed Meziou worked for AMEA Power in Dubai, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in London and an international firm in Tunis. Ahmed is a member of the Tunis Bar.

Ahmed Meziou is an international project development, banking and finance lawyer with many years of experience and focus on (i) project finance with multi-sourced financing options, including export credit agency and multilateral financing support, government financing support, commercial bank loans, Islamic finance and various capital market solutions such as project bonds and (ii) project development, including in renewable energy, conventional energy, oil & gas, mining and natural resources and infrastructure, dealing in particular with EPC, operation, maintenance, procurement arrangements and revenues agreements (including PPAs). He has significant experience acting for project sponsors and contractors, equity investors, financial institutions, state-owned entities, and governments on a wide variety of energy, natural resources, and infrastructure projects. His work encompasses upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas agreements, independent power projects, independent water projects, mining conventions, and other infrastructure projects. Ahmed's practice also includes public private partnership (PPP) transactions and concessions with public entities.

Ahmed has been involved in award winning project development, financing and acquisitions related to both renewable and conventional power in the Middle East and Africa. He has been recently advising international sponsors on the development and financing of large renewable energy projects.

M&E’s banking and finance practice is led by Ahmed Meziou. M&E capitalizes on Ahmed’s extensive experience in working with commercial and investment banks, arrangers, underwriters, borrowers, issuers, governments, supra-national organisations and international finance organisations, financial insurers, trustees and investors on all type of banking, finance and capital markets transactions, including in the context of restructuring and insolvency.

Ahmed worked regularly on projects financed by international financial institutions such as IFC, AfDB, Proparco, ICD, FMO, DEG, AFD and EBRD, and is fully aware of their requirements.
