Öykü started her legal career after completing her legal internship at one of Istanbul’s leading law firms. She then joined the managing company of a technology development zone in Turkey, where she worked for one and a half years in the startup industry, focusing on M&A projects, particularly for startups in their pre-seed, seed, and Series A investment rounds. After her time at Teknokent, Öykü joined Koç&Okçuoğlu Attorneys at Law, where she has been for almost three years.

During her tenure, she has primarily focused on media and entertainment law, advising clients on a wide range of matters including content licensing, format acquisition, production services, copyright transfers, and securing intellectual property rights. Her practice also includes structuring and negotiating agreements for production companies, digital platforms and cable television.

Öykü has demonstrated a solid understanding of intellectual property law, particularly in securing rights and protecting creative assets for clients. Her hands-on experience includes working on high-value deals with key players in the media sector, including VOD platforms and international sales agencies. She is skilled at navigating complex negotiations and building strong professional relationships.

In addition to her work in media and entertainment, Öykü has developed significant experience in corporate law, particularly in mergers and acquisitions. She has been involved in various M&A transactions, especially those involving technology and intellectual property, and has supported clients in due diligence processes and the drafting of key transactional documents such as LOIs, NDAs, SHAs and SPAs.

Öykü also provides legal counsel on data protection and privacy matters, advising clients on compliance with regulatory requirements.

With a strong foundation and growing expertise in both media law and corporate law, Öykü has become a promising young lawyer in the entertainment sector while continuing to build expertise in corporate transactions.
