Position

Evelyne Lozie Maes is a distinguished partner at Aurion Law, specialising in constitutional law, administrative law, and human rights law. Governments, universities, hospitals, organisations, and individuals consistently rely on her expertise in navigating complex matters relating to the distribution of powers, fundamental rights, anti-discrimination, public procurement, subsidies, educational law, and the organisation and governance of public legal entities.

Evelyne has extensive experience representing clients in high-stakes litigation before the Constitutional Court, the Council of State, and the Court of Justice of the European Union. She is also frequently called upon to advise on legislative drafting and institutional reform, combining rigorous legal analysis with a deep understanding of public governance.

Her practice is marked by a strong academic foundation. Evelyne enriches her legal work with ongoing research and teaching, regularly publishing in leading national and international legal journals. She is a guest lecturer at Université de Liège and Université Saint-Louis, where she teaches Discrimination Law and Legal Theory.

Beyond her legal practice, Evelyne plays an active role in shaping policy in the field of fundamental rights. She is a board member of the Federal Institute for Human Rights and serves on the expert committee responsible for evaluating the federal anti-discrimination laws.

Evelyne holds a Doctor of Laws degree from KU Leuven, an LL.M. from University College London, and graduated with distinction in law from KU Leuven. Before joining Aurion, she developed the public law practice at Curia and previously practiced at Eubelius during her doctoral research years.
