Career

Gareth is a Partner in the IP Disputes team in the Innovation department. He has nearly two decades of experience in resolving intellectual property and commercial disputes for entrepreneurial business, from some of the world’s largest e-commerce platforms to the most exciting start-ups, with a focus on online businesses and those involved in digital technologies.

His team is described as "responsive, comprehensive and creative" and consists of "very tech-savvy litigators who really understand the needs of innovative and entrepreneurial clients", are praised for their "consistent application, thoroughness, attention to detail, and patience" and for being "friendly and respectful, even in stressful environments". He is described as an "IP dispute expert" and "a leading light for international and online IT disputes".

Gareth's practice spans all levels of litigation, arbitration, and mediation. He is described in Chambers 2023 as "an excellent lawyer, direct and straight to the point … efficient and a pleasure to work with". He is also uniquely ranked as a Leading Individual in Legal 500 2023 for Intellectual Property and also for Commercial Litigation, in part for giving "clear cut advice" and delivering "efficient actions".

Gareth is a member of the Law Society’s Intellectual Property Law Committee and two-term member of its Civil Justice Committee. He was appointed to the World Intellectual Property Organization’s exclusive panel of trade mark “Neutrals” in 2014 and as well as being qualified in England and Wales he is admitted to the bar in New York.

He has addressed expert audiences at the Fordham IP Conference, most recently on the metaverse and NFTs, and at both the EU-IPO Case Law Conference and the EU-IPO Academy on the resolution of IP disputes.
