Career

Namaala Liebenthal, Of Counsel, of the Firm principally advising on matters in the commercial and corporate sector. Having started her career as an attorney with Simpson Thacher & Barlett LLP in New York City, where she completed transactions totally over USD 25 billion, Namaala is well versed in the structuring of syndicated loans, acquisitions, securities offerings and private equity.

Her focus areas in Zambia have been in the banking and financial sector, the formation and structuring of new entities, company law and commerce. Namaala holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Commerce (Finance) with a minor in economics from the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce. She is an advocate of the High Court for Zambia and a qualified attorney of the New York State Bar.

Personal

Ms. Liebenthal is also a choreographer with a passion for dance and the founder of ZOCA (Zambia’s Own Caribbean and African dance fever), an international dance fitness franchise. She is a Co-Producer of the Podcast “Did We Learn Anything?”.
