Career

Monica Byrne has experience in Tax Procedures and Consulting, both in Domestic and International Tax Law. She served as a career officer at the Ministry of Economy and Finance for 15 years. Additionally, she was a Member of the Tax Court and Lead Negotiator of Treaties to Avoid International Double Taxation.

Her expertise includes Income Tax and Consumption Tax Planning, resolution of tax procedures, and interpretation and application of anti-avoidance tax regulations, such as General Anti-Avoidance Rule (Norma XVI).

She is a professor of International Tax Law and Corporate Income Tax in the Master’s Program in Taxation at Universidad de Lima and UPC.

She was a professor of Tax Policy in the Master’s Program in Tax Law at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.

She also taught Tax Reform and Mining Taxation at ESAN and was a professor of International Tax Law at Universidad Mayor de San Marcos.
