Career

Liansheng is a Partner of the firm and has been with the firm since he commenced his legal practice.

​He specialises in litigation work, particularly matrimonial and commercial litigation. Drawing from his experience in appeals, applications and trials in the State Courts, High Court and Court of Appeal, Liansheng prides himself in his competence and ability to offer practical and sound legal advice to his clients.

​A familiar face in the family courts, Liansheng was a member of the Law Society’s Family Law Practice Committee as well as the Law Awareness Weeks Practice Committee. He was also appointed as a Facilitator for the Family Law Module of the Preparatory Course leading to Part B of the Singapore Bar Admissions and Examinations from 2020 – 2022.

​An avid arts supporter, Liansheng is also a playwright and arts practitioner, who has presented works with the Singapore Art Week, Singapore Arts Festival, NUS Arts Festival, Institute of Technical Education and the Esplanade Studios RAW season.

​Liansheng presently serves as the Chairman of the Board of The Theatre Practice Limited, Singapore’s longest standing professional bilingual theatre institution. The Theatre Practice Limited is a not-for-profit, IPC-status charity.

Experience

Below is a highlight of matters on which Liansheng has been involved in:

UTN v. UTO and another [2019] SGHCF 18, representing the wife in the divorce and ancillary matters and successfully arguing for adverse inference to be drawn against the husband. BOM v. BOK and another appeal [2019] 1 SLR 349, representing the successful party in the Court of Appeal matter which, among others, developed the law as regards the doctrine of unconscionability in trust arrangements. Composers and Authors Society of Singapore Ltd v. Singnet Pte Ltd [2020] SGHC 220, representing the successful party in an application to the High Court for a determination on a question of law, which, among others, clarified the law as regards whether the Copyright Tribunal had the power to grant retrospective orders. Rasalingam Letchumee v. The Estate of the late Jaganathan Rajendaran, deceased and another [2022] 3 SLR 1099, representing the sole beneficiary of the estate in a High Court action and successfully defended a claim against the deceased’s mother for the whole of the estate. Toh Eng Tiah v. Jiang Angelina and another appeal [2021] 1 SLR 117, representing a businessman in seeking a claim against a woman he had a romantic relationship with, which went on appeal to the Court of Appeal.
