Jānis Kārkliņš has provided expert legal assistance to both public authorities and private entities, effectively handling a diverse array of cases at the national level, as well as before esteemed institutions such as the Constitutional Court, the Stockholm Arbitration Court, the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the International Commercial Arbitration Court at the Ukrainian CCI (the ICAC), the Swiss Arbitration Centre, the Paris Arbitration and the German Arbitration Institute (DIS).

Personal

Jānis Kārkliņš is the author and co-author of approximately sixty scientific publications in Latvian and English, including those indexed in the Scopus and / or Web of Science databases. He is the co-author of several monographs and text books on the civil law of Latvia, including ones published by Springer and Kluwer Law International, such as “Contract Law in Latvia” and “Tort Law in Latvia”. He has delivered papers on topical civil law issues in more than thirty international and domestic scientific conferences in Latvia and other European countries, including on the consumer rights protection legislation.

Jānis Kārkliņš has successfully supervised and / or participated in international and domestic scientific projects, Latvian state research programmes and research programmes of the European Commission.

Awarded the Judicial System’s Grade II Badge of Honor by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Latvia for exemplary, honest, and creative performance of his duties in the field of justice.
