Rosa van Zijl started her career as a criminal lawyer in 2007. She moved to Jebbink Soeteman advocaten in 2013 and became partner in 2016.

Rosa van Zijl completed her Criminal Law and Encyclopedia and Philosophy of Law studies cum laude at the University of Leiden and also passed her propaedeutic year in Greek and Latin Languages and Culture.

Rosa was (the first female) chairperson of the Netherlands Association of Young Criminal Lawyers in 2013-2014. She is now the Dutch representative in the Criminal Law Committee of The Council of Bars and Law Societies in Europe (CCBE) and member of the Advisory Board of the European Criminal Bar Association. She publishes in various professional journals and in the Dutch financial newspaper Het Financieele Dagblad, and additionally advocates making language more inclusive in the judiciary. Rosa is also a member of the Advisory Committee on Criminal Law of the Netherlands Bar Association. This Committee comments on all national legislative proposals concerning criminal law.
