Claire Verschelde is one of the two co-founders of ICOSA and ICOSA Europe, two firms specializing in Intellectual Property in the Life Sciences (Biotechnology, Chemistry, Medtech).

With a Ph.D. in Immunology from the Department of Fundamental and Clinical Immunology (ENS and INSERM in Lyon), Claire holds a Master's degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon. She is qualified as a French Patent Attorney, European Patent Attorney, and Belgian Patent Attorney.

Claire Verschelde manages patent portfolios in the field of Biotechnology, particularly in therapeutics and diagnostics, and medical devices. She has recognized expertise in strategy and in the valorization of Intellectual Property assets for acquiring or transferring rights. She assists numerous clients, including startups and investors, in Intellectual Property audits and 'due diligence' for fundraising.

Claire Verschelde is a preferred contact of the European Patent Office, especially for opposition proceedings. She writes legal opinions on issues of infringement, patent validity, and freedom-to-operate. The freedom-to-operate studies conducted by Claire Verschelde lead to recommendations for implementing an effective patent strategy to limit or avoid the risks of infringement by third-party patent products.

Claire Verschelde is regularly invited to speak at conferences and symposiums, particularly regarding selection juries in the field of innovation, to identify and train startups with high potential in the challenges of Industrial Property.
