Virgile GRANDCLAUDE is a Partner at ICOSA and Head of the Chemistry Department.

A Ph.D. graduate in Chemistry from INSA Rouen, Virgile is a chemical engineer who graduated from the National School of Chemistry of Mulhouse. He also holds a Master's degree in Organic and Bioorganic Chemistry from the University of Haute-Alsace.

As European and French Patent Attorney, Virgile began his career in Ip in 2012 at an international IP Law firm. There, he supported major international groups in both cosmetics and petrochemical industries, as well as SMEs in the pharmaceutical sector, in managing and protecting their patent portfolios. He joined ICOSA in 2018.

Since then, Virgile has developed recognized expertise in procedures related to the protection of technological innovations: identifying projects of interest, conducting patentability studies, drafting patent applications, and formalizing know-how. He has also gained expertise in addressing issues related to the exploitation of innovations, including conducting multi-territorial freedom-to-operate studies in highly competitive contexts. He is also proficient in patent granting and opposition procedures in various territories, particularly in Europe and France.

As a Partner at ICOSA since 2020, he now leads a team of 14 patent agents who are chemistry experts. They focus on supporting growth companies, SMEs, and industrial groups in their efforts to protect and enhance the value of their industrial property assets.
