Associate

Umut is an antitrust lawyer advising clients on all aspects of Turkish competition law with a special focus on financial technologies, digital markets, and financial regulations.

Prior to joining CoPartners, Umut was an associate at a top-tier law firm in Istanbul where he advised mainly multinational clients before the Turkish Competition Authority in cartel and abuse of dominance investigations and merger control matters. He also served as counsel to one of Europe’s largest FinTechs and provided regulatory consultancy to various other FinTech clients.

With a strong interest in digital markets, Umut has also developed a thorough knowledge of software and online advertising sectors.

Throughout his career, Umut has represented clients from a diverse range of industries including digital platforms, FinTech, automotive, and aerospace among others.

Umut routinely contributes to antitrust publications, journals, and speaks at seminars and publishes insights on cryptocurrency and financial regulatory matters.

Umut was admitted to the Istanbul Bar Association in 2018 and is fluent in English.
